Blue Adderall Pills: 10 mg Imprints by Maker, Verified

The short version

In the United States, blue is the color several makers use for the 5, 7.5 and 10 mg immediate-release strengths, and the imprint, not the color, tells you which. Brand-name Adderall and at least five generic manufacturers make blue 10 mg tablets, each with its own imprint, and they are therapeutically equivalent. Color is a manufacturer’s choice, not a dose code, which is why the imprint is the only thing worth trusting.

Blue 10 mg imprints we verified

Each entry below matches the manufacturer’s label on DailyMed or at least two pill identification databases. Several websites list some of these as 5 mg or 7.5 mg; the labels and databases list all of them as 10 mg. Makers come and go, so if your imprint is not here, compare it with your pharmacy label or ask a pharmacist.

All of them are immediate-release amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, the same four-salt blend as brand Adderall. They start working within about half an hour and last roughly four to six hours. Extended-release Adderall XR is a capsule, not a tablet, so a blue round tablet is never the long-acting form.

Why blue pills get singled out

Ten milligrams is a common immediate-release strength, so blue 10 mg tablets turn up wherever prescription stimulants are shared, sold, and diverted. They are the pill a roommate hands over during finals, and a pill counterfeiters copy. That does not make blue tablets stronger. Color says nothing about strength.

A blue pill from a friend is not a blue pill from a pharmacy

The DEA warns that counterfeit Adderall is pressed to match real tablets and often contains methamphetamine, and sometimes fentanyl. Its lab testing found that six in ten fentanyl-laced fake pills analyzed in 2022 held a potentially lethal dose. DEA lab testing put that at 76 percent in fiscal year 2023 and 29 percent in fiscal year 2025. The share moves; the fact that you cannot tell by looking does not. Someone who takes a stimulant expecting to stay awake, and gets an opioid instead, has no tolerance to protect them. If anyone you know takes pills that did not come from a pharmacy, keep naloxone nearby and do not use alone.

Health risks at higher doses

The dangers of amphetamine rise with dose and route. High blood pressure, a racing or irregular heartbeat, chest pain, overheating, and seizures are the medical emergencies. Days of heavy use with little sleep can bring on stimulant psychosis. In 2023 the FDA strengthened the boxed warning on all prescription stimulants to emphasize misuse, addiction, and overdose. People with heart conditions face the highest risk even at modest doses.

Stopping, and what treatment looks like

Stimulant withdrawal is not medically dangerous in the way alcohol or benzodiazepine withdrawal can be, but the crash is real: fatigue, long sleep, hunger, and depression that can be severe in the first week or two. Contingency management, which pays small rewards for negative drug tests, is the standard of care in the 2024 ASAM/AAAP stimulant use disorder guideline, which also confirms that no medication is FDA-approved for this and any medication is used off-label; it is usually paired with counseling and treatment for any underlying ADHD, anxiety, or depression.
